When you subscribe, you will immediately receive a welcome email with information about your subscription, along with a link to our discord community. That same week, we will send your welcome package, including a 12-month book tracker, and a welcome gift.
We will send your first book in the first shipping cycle after you subscribe. Depending on when you subscribe, this might mean it takes a few weeks! Rest assured, your books are coming.
We ship book boxes in the second and third weeks of the month. Your book box will come with that month's book book selection, a sticker for your book tracker, a list of other exciting graphic titles being released that month, and a title-specific gift (bookmarks for kids and prints for adults!).

When you subscribe, your subscription is locked for the first three months. This makes sure that we aren't sending welcome packages to folks who don't intend to stick around. After your third month, you may cancel your subscription at any time.
Am I getting a discount on the cover prices of the books?

Sometimes! To make things simple, we have one subscription price for each month, regardless of the book's cover price. Sometimes the book we send might cost a little more, and sometimes a little less, than your monthly payment. But it will always be a carefully curated selection, will always come with your free gifts, and will always include access to our online community! We figure it will even out within a year. And if it doesn't, we'll make adjustments!

Starting out, all of our book sales are final. We encourage you to gift your unwanted book to a friend, or place it in your local Little Free Library. In the future, we intend to allow for book exchanges--but we want to start with the simplest logistics to make sure that we can provide you with the best possible service as we grow.
Finally: If you don't like a book, feel free to let us know! You can send us a note through the form below, and we will use your feedback to guide future selections.

We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.

We encourage you to investigate your local comic shops and independently owned bookstores. But if you want to buy more titles from us, the Portland and Eugene stores each have a web store that you are welcome to shop! The stores carry a lot of the same titles, but you will notice differences in local zines, shop-specific goodies, and books in stock at any given time.

Yes! First, thank you for getting your kids' graphic novels from us at Books with Pictures: Our subscription programs have been a sustaining part of our shop's income for nearly a decade.
Advantages to sticking with your current subscription: the book we choose for your package is tailored to your kid. Don't like scary stories? We'll make a note in your file. Love dogs, but hate cats? We'll keep the retractable claws out of your shipment.
Advantages to switching to a Graphic Novel Library subscription: The GNL subscription comes with goodies, including a book tracker, a cool bookmark, and more. It is also the book selection for our monthly bookclubs, so if connecting in-person or online with other graphic novel readers is a priority, that is a good reason to switch.
In short, we think there are good reasons in both directions. The choice is yours!
